LESSON 5 SELECTION OF COFFEE BEANS
Introduction
Espresso, hand brewing, siphon pot, water temperature, extraction time ... you can always improve your technology and methods, but no matter how good the technical methods, coffee beans themselves are the biggest factor affecting your coffee flavor. If we use coffee beans that are not of high quality, we will not have the opportunity to taste coffee that is really delicious and of good quality.
I have introduced several types of coffee beans in Lesson 2, and in the next lesson, I will detail how to choose coffee beans. Making single coffee has strict requirements on coffee beans.

Coffee selection guide
1. Read packaging information and introduction
All the information about coffee beans is on the label. When you understand the label, you can easily pick the best coffee beans.
2. Coffee beans
Coffee powder is very convenient, but it tastes so different from coffee beans. Air is the enemy of coffee. When coffee is ground into powder, it starts to oxidize, which means that the taste will dissipate faster. The closer you make coffee to the grind beans, the more fresh and fragrant the coffee is.
3. Baking date
When the coffee bean is roasted, its chemical composition begins to change immediately. The coffee beans will begin to emit carbon dioxide from roasting. When the coffee beans start to vent, the bean oil will start to oxidize, which means that the flavor of the beans will start to decrease. The freshness of coffee beans is a subjective matter, but the recommended coffee beans are from four days to two weeks after roasting, but the method used to extract the coffee will also affect this period.
4. Origin
Altitude, soil, rainfall, and sunlight all contribute to the taste of the final coffee bean, so the origin of the coffee bean is an important indicator of how it is tasted. Coffee trees thrive along the "coffee bean belt", which is the area between the North and South Tropic of Cancer. If your coffee bag or barista cannot tell you where this bag of coffee is grown, you may need to reconsider your options.
