Evaluation

Tester completed the instructional video within the specified time and tested the accessibility and function of the website, and finally gave feedback on the design of the video and website.

In the end, I got a lot of feedback. Below is the feedback from the pilot study participants. 

Content: All participants agreed that content is comprehensive, but lacks flexibility and interest.  

Design: 67% of the participants thought the design of the website looks pretty, and 33% thought the design of the website can be more beautiful.

Time spend: All participants spent less than an hour to complete the whole module, including instructional videos and an evaluation survey. But they spent extra time looking for different tasks in the long tutorial video.

Reflection of the evaluation results

Below are the reflections to feedback from the pilot study participants.

I added some background content for the project to the instructional website to give the audience a comprehensive impression of the project. Then in the instructional materials, I uploaded a long video and split the long video into short videos with different topics, and added them to the video page. All videos are embedded in the website after uploading on YouTube so that the audiences can view the subtitle while watching the video. In addition, I added a new subpage, in which I added a picture and text version of the handout.

Conclusion and Reflection

Looking back on the whole process, I found that there are more difficulties than I expected, especially the analysis and design phase. As a student who is not a member of a student organization, I rarely come into contact with the Hornet Life platform, so the content gathering at the beginning was really difficult for me because I didn't know much about the operation process of the entire platform. I want to thank Rachel Kohman, Chief of CSI, for giving me a lot of help.

In addition, when making instructional videos, although I have some experience, I always make mistakes in audio recording. Then I think video design can be more exquisite and add more fun. I think this is where I should improve technically.

Finally, after the implementation and evaluation phases, I found that the initial plan is only a feasible plan, but the practicality is not high, many details are not considered. So, in the end, some changes were made.
